Minecraft Nether portal
The idea
I was looking around Makerworld.com for some new minecraft ideas and I stumbled on this Nether portal, I really liked the inserts idea and the LEDS so I wanted to recreate this for my self. I have a few ideas on how to do this diffrenttly
Day 1
- sketched up the design to fit a 1m LED strip just like the above link
- still a few things to sort out, I want to use USB-C to power it, I have some break out boards that I really like
- I need to find a nice filament color that looks like obsidian
DAY 2
- spent far too long trying to find the correct color of filament, I found a galaxy purple from Sunlu that I really like but dumb amazon doesn't have it in stock so I will have to wait for a week or so for Sunlu to ship it to me... ugh
- I also ordered some parts I thought I would need, ESP32, 144 LED per meter strips @ 5V
DAY3
- I was refining the model and kind of hit a road block with adding texture to the portal, It kind of worked with the music disc's, but the side that lays on the bed gets messed up and doesnt look like I want it too. Some thought will need to be put in
day 4
I settled on having pegs and a cover type of thing to put ontop of the portal so it would add some texture. its far from a good design and I might end up doing it a diffrent way.... but it works for the most part.
While printing off test parts I think I wayyyy oversized the portal but thats okay I guess, I don't want to start all over again.
